All taken from the imminent introduction of the new iPad will happen in a few hours, few have focused on the issue to the developers - took place last Thursday - the preview of Mac OS X 10.7 Lion that will gradually replace Leopard and its more advanced cousin (Mah ..) Snow Leopard.
confirm my impression last October: all features borrowed - admittedly - dall'iPad or most of your operating system, make it a kind of awkward, weird wannabe IOS. But then, just to understand: To use any multitouch gesture I have to have a fucking laptop (I hate that subject) or buy Trackpad Magic?
Anyway, here are the new, main features, followed by my brief comment.
Launchpad. Show all icons on the desktop application installed on your Mac, just like with these app sull'iPad, including folders that can be collected multiple applications.
Comment: what would it be? A duplicate or evolution of the Dock? If you need to kill the Dock to quest'ingombrante parade of icons, tell me now.
Mission Control. Show all open applications and windows by showing thumbnails of the Dashboard. With a gesture, you can zoom back to get an overview of the applications.
Comment: what was wrong with Exposé? It worked so well already in his first appearance on Snow Leopard with Tiger that have only worsened. This should be better?
Commento: all'apparenza, sembra una cosa buona e giusta. Ma, per chi fa il mio lavoro e sperimenta parecchio, può rivelarsi anche una dannazione.
versions. Automatically records the various versions of a file as you modify it. Mac OS X Lion automatically creates a version of the file each time the file is opened and every hour while you are working on. If you want to revert to an older version, there is an interface similar to that of Time Machine to view all previous versions of a file and retrieve the contents of the one you want. You can also copy part of an older version of the document and paste it in the latest version.
Comment: I like that, and it is a kind of Time Machine file-oriented. An excellent thing for creative professionals, provided you have enough disk space to save all versions.
But beware: only works with applications developed to work with Lion. What, there is still not known.
Resume. When you restart the Mac, it restores the previous position and status of applications, just as we had left.
Comment: do not understand how this shit can be trumpeted as one of the fantastic new features of Mac OS Lion. And anyway, this only works with supported applications.
Mail 5. is the new e-mail client installed. Has exactly the same look and same features as the iPad. You can see the incoming mail with a preview of the full height of the selected message, there is a new bar for access to favorite folders and a search engine powered.
Comment: never used Mail, except on the iPad. I guess it works pretty well.
AirDrop. allows you to share files wirelessly with all the devices in the vicinity that take this feature. Notes from the Mac using AirDrop only people in the neighborhood, and to send a file simply drag its name.
Comment: seems pretty handy, and in any case implies that the people around you to be updated.
Lion Server. Until now, Mac OS and Mac OS Server were two distinct systems, and were purchased separately. Now, in Mac OS X Lion have been integrated feature of Mac OS X Server. According to Apple, configure your Mac as a server will be quick and easy that will provide the users with all the added features for the management of content across the Net
Comment: is the ultimate sign that Apple wants to get out out of the enterprise server market.
OSX server as if the quarry within the home and small business ... but otherwise better to give in to the most experienced companies that create products based on Windows Server and above, Linux.
PS Of course, the box that you see in my opening is only a mockup. I'm curious to see Lion when it comes out (this summer, more or less) as it will be dissimilar.
